The Role That A University Plays in the Framework of Research Support

The world of academia is one in which everyone wants to have a say in how it runs. Parents are concerned about their children’s education, students are concerned about the effect of their grades on their lives, faculty and staff want to have a say in the standards they are expected to instruct and how they are required to do so, and those in charge at an institutional level are concerned about how all of these cogs work together to create the well-oiled machines that policymakers in the government expect them to provide.

With so many hands in the pot, it’s no wonder that the final outcome can be confusing, with teachers all over the country addressing different standards in completely opposing ways. When it comes to research at a university level, academics need a framework that guides them as to what is expected of them. With COVID-19 shifting the importance of research back to instructing and molding students into those who can adapt to unexpected changes and think creatively and innovatively to solve new problems, the role of the university in supporting research is crucial. Researchers and university stakeholders must partner in all avenues to ensure the outcomes of what they’re evaluating can make a difference, since now cultures, societies, and humanity is at stake, rather than the reputation of the scholar and the university itself.

How Higher Education Has Changed Society

Statistics from multiple reputable avenues show that in today’s society, full-time workers with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree earn almost double the wages of the average worker with a high school diploma only. When advanced degrees are taken into account, this wage discrepancy increases even more. With greater income and stability comes a higher impact on the economy and society itself.

Unemployment rates for those with college degrees is statistically lower than that of those with high school degrees or less. Studies also so that college graduates have a better quality of living, including improved health and overall satisfaction with their lives. They retire with benefits, engage in community and world issues, work within their own communities to make improvements, and understand the importance of voting and their own ability to make both positive and negative impacts.

Higher education may swing on the pendulum between appreciated and undervalued, but the facts show that graduates with college degrees impact society on levels that their non-degree seeking counterparts don’t.

What a Supportive Research Institution Framework Looks Like

Without the support of the university, researchers don’t always get the chance to make the difference to society that they could. Many universities are mired in tradition, and unexpected events like COVID-19 throw those traditional methods into disarray.

Supportive research institution frameworks take this flexibility into account. They don’t separate instruction from research. The two are combined together integrally, and students are encouraged to think outside the box and use critical thinking to attempt to solve problems. They are actively engaged in research opportunities provided and supported by the university.

With this support, researchers are able to contribute to the university’s academic mission and to the field of science and knowledge. Improvements in society almost always come from the arena of research, and therefore through a scholar who has been educated in a university setting.

The institution typically reaps the benefits of the scholar’s work when they are researching under the university’s support and on their grounds. The university is able to get at least partial credit for the academic scholar’s research outcomes, which adds to the institution’s prestige, enhances its reputation, and increases their potential sources of funding.

A supportive research institution framework, therefore, is a winning solution for both the researcher and the stakeholders of the university itself.

Supporting Research by Using Impactio

Universities and researchers want to use the best equipment for their research ventures, including the software programs that they default to when it’s time to put their work together for publication. Impactio is chosen by experts around the world as the go-to source to compile and finalize research.

Impactio’s all-in-one platform lets researchers easily upload their content into premade templates and turn citation and publication data into infographics without a fuss.
