Emmanuel O.C. Mkpojiogu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics and Computer Science with First Class Honors from the University of Nigeria in 2007. He also graduated from Universiti Utara Malaysia in 2015 with a Master of Science degree in Information Technology with Distinction (majoring in Software Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Computer Science with specialization in Human-Computer Interaction and Experience Engineering. Presently, he lectures at Veritas University Abuja (The Catholic University of Nigeria), Abuja, Nigeria. He has also authored over 100 academic articles in highly reputable international journals. These articles have attracted over 2000 citations and an h-index of 26. His research interests are in the areas of Human-Computer Interaction, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Requirements Engineering, Interaction Design and Experience Engineering. In 2017, Dr Mkpojiogu was appointed the founding Head of Department of the Department of Computer and Information Technology, Veritas University, Abuja. In 2020, he was appointed the Assistant Director of Research, Directorate of Research and International Linkages, Veritas University, Abuja. In 2021, he once again founded the Department of Software Engineering, Veritas University, Abuja and was its pioneering and current Head of Department and continues in its leadership till date. He has served in several Management, Senate and Council committees of Veritas University, Abuja either as Member or Chairman. Under his leadership, the Software Engineering Lab of the Department won the prestigious Africa-wide African Telecommunications Union (ATU) Africa Innovation Challenge with an award of Twenty Thousand USD ($20, 000). Also, under his leadership in the Department, the students of Software Engineering Department won several national competitions, among such competitions are the FlexiSAF Distinction Campus Quizathon 1.0, and National University Duel Smart Challenge and STEM Competitions. Also, under his leadership, one of his undergraduate students' project, FIMI Framework, a secure PHP toolkit designed to accelerate web development while incorporating advanced security features. was nominated by the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) for the G20 Digital Innovation Alliance Summit and Innovation Challenge in Cape Town, South Africa in 2025. More so, within four years of his leadership of the department of software engineering, two set of students in his department won elections into various positions of the Veritas University Abuja Student Representative Assembly: the first set included, the President, Student Representative Assembly; the Treasurer, Student Representative Assembly; the Sports Director, Student Representative Assembly and the Deputy Speaker, Student Delegatory Parliament. The second set of students included: the President, Student Representative Assembly; the Treasurer, Student Representative Assembly and Director of Environment, Student Representative Assembly. In addition, Dr Mkpojiogu serves as a reviewer, Editor and member of Editorial Boards of several high impact factor journals. Particularly, He has peer-reviewed over 400 research papers for over 70 reputable journals worldwide. Dr. Emmanuel Mkpojiogu has engaged in numerous community services and has supervised several students' projects and thesis. While serving as the Head of Department of the Department of Computer and Information Technology, he worked assiduously at improving students enrollments and ensured the staffing of the department with qualified staff. He also established the hardware and software laboratories of the Department. He worked hard at growing the Department from cradle. He repeated the same feat in the Department of Software Engineering. Along with the hard work in establishing the Department, he also established the Software Engineering Laboratories and the Ideation and Innovation Center, all equipped with state-of-the-art equipments. Further, he diligently sought for and staffed the Department with highly qualified, skilled and talented faculty members. He has been instrumental to the accreditation of the BSc Computer Science and BSc Software Engineering programs in both the departments of Computer and Information Technology and Software Engineering respectfully. On the whole, these efforts
have cumulatively led to very high students enrollments in the Department and made the software engineering program in the Department a highly sought after course of study in Veritas University, Abuja.
