Dr. Palmieri is a public health expert, health policy consultant, and nurse researcher (nationally certified at the highest level in Peru). Presently, Dr. Palmieri is the Director of the EBHC South America: A Joanna Briggs Institute Affiliated Group, and Co-Director for the Peruvian National Qualitative Research Center. In addition, Dr. Palmieri is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Foundation of Nursing at Sigma Theta Tau International, Member of the Board of Directors for the Health Facility Accreditation Program, and a board appointed member of the Risk and Audit Committee for the International Council of Nurses (representing the United States of America). In 2015, he was the first Peruvian to be inducted into the prestigious Academy of Nursing as well as the first Peruvian to become a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a Fellow of the International Society for Quality in Health Care. While working in South American, Dr. Palmieri co-led a $300 million project to develop the largest vertically integrated health care delivery system in Peru. During this project, he achieved the first international health care accreditations in Peruvian history. Dr. Palmieri holds academic and research appointments at universities and institutes in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and the United States. Resulting from his philanthropic work to contribute to positive social change for the poor and in vulnerable Peru, Dr. Palmieri has received numerous awards, including keys to cities and honorary doctoral degrees. He continues to be focused on advancing health policies to reduce gender inequities, eliminate violence against women, and improve the health of vulnerable populations. This work includes developing researchers and mentoring leaders. Dr. Palmieri has authored many books, chapters, and peer-reviewed journals articles and presented at conferences in more than 30 countries. He lives in Tampa, Florida and Houston, Texas as well as in Lima, Peru, and La Paz, Bolivia with his wife, an accomplished economist and banking sector leader, and his young daughter.

En una ceremonia que contó con la presencia de las principales autoridades de la Universidad María Auxiliadora (Lima, Perú), el Dr. Patrick Albert Palmieri, destacado experto en sistemas de salud y líder de enfermería, fue distinguido con el grado de Doctor Honoris Causa en Filosofía y Letras, en mérito a su destacado desempeño profesional. La ceremonia, realizada en el auditorio de la Universidad María Auxiliadora contó con la presencia del Dr. Manuel Torres Valladares, Rector de la UMA, El Ing. Oswaldo Morán Márquez, Presidente de la Junta de Accionistas; la Dra. Gladys Morán Paredes, Geente General; la Dra. Ilse Fernández Honorio, Vicerrectora Académica y de Investigación; el Dr. Carlos Bell Cortez, Decano de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud y el Dr. Cristian Hinojosa Pedraza, Decano de la Facultad de Ciencias Empresariales.
El Dr. Palmieri es experto liderando el sistema de salud y operaciones clínicas en el Perú. Es un Académico de la Ciencia del Cuidado Humano de Watson enfocado en cambiar el paradigma tradicional de los sistemas de salud en América del Sur enriqueciendo los procesos mecánicos de curación de los pacientes con el enfoque del cuidado humanizado para la sanación de las personas. El Dr. Palmieri es líder impulsado a las personas y comunidades, creador de visión, gestor de la buena voluntad, y el desarrollo de las capacidades de muchos - particularmente en enfermeras. Sirviendo a través de múltiples sistemas, él se ha planteado la voluntad de cambio por la re-configuración de la capacidad del sector salud peruano y los sistemas educativos. En particular, su trabajo dio lugar a las primeras tres acreditaciones internacionales de hospitales y clínicas de la historia peruana.
Ha ganado premios en varios países latinoamericanos y los estados unidos por su contribución científica a la comprensión de los sistemas de salud y su relación con la mejora de la calidad, seguridad del paciente y gestión de riesgos.
