I am currently an Associate Specialist at University of California, San Francisco working on non-coding genome in human. I obtained my Ph.D. at Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology Chinese Academy of Sciences, where I studied silencing of transposable elements in plants. Then I spent a couple years studying Piwi/piRNA in Haifan Lin's Lab at Yale, and developed interest in the functional studies of non-coding elements in the genome. Currently, I am trying to illustrate the function of those 'dark matter' in human genome and how they can serve as regulatory elements to turn the genes on and off under different situations.
