Since 1999, as a member of the Computational Vision and Robotics Laboratory (CVRL) of ICS-FORTH, he has been involved in several European and national RTD projects on computer vision, pattern recognition, image analysis and robotics. His current research interests fall in the areas of computer vision and pattern recognition, with emphasis on the analysis of humans in images and videos, human pose analysis, recognition of human activities and gestures, 3D computer vision, as well as image motion and tracking. He is also interested in applications of computer vision in the fields of robotics and smart environments. In these areas, he has published more than 180 papers in scientific journals and refereed conference proceedings and has also delivered several invited and keynote talks in international events, universities and research centers.

Antonis Argyros has served as a general co-chair of ECCV'10, as an Area Chair for ECCV'20, ECCV'16, IEEE ICCV'19, BMVC'20, '19, '18, '17 and IEEE FG'19, as a co-organizer of HANDS'19, '18, '17 and HANDS'15, as a Program Co-chair of IEEE FG'20 and ICVS'19, as an Associate Editor for ICPR'18, IEEE ICRA'20, '18, '17, '16, IEEE/RSJ IROS'18, '17, '16 and as an Area Editor of EUSIPCO'17. He also serves as an Area Editor for the Computer Vision and Image Understanding Journal (CVIU), as a member of the Advisory Board of the IET Image Processing journal and has served as a member of the Editorial Board of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters journal. He has served as a reviewer in more than 35 journals and as a reviewer/TPC member of more than 65 conferences in computer vision, computer graphics, robotics and related disciplines. Antonis Argyros is a faculty member of the Brain and Mind interdisciplinary graduate program, Chairman of the Postgraduate Studies Committee of CSD-UoC, Chairman of the Scientific Council of ICS-FORTH, Deputy Chair of CSD-UoC, Deputy Member of the Board of Directors of the European Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) and a member of its Strategy Task Group.
