PhD in Sociology at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid (2008), Master of Philosophy at the University of Minho (2002) and Degree in Theology at the Faculty of Theology at the Catholic University of Portugal-Braga (1999). He is Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of Portugal, and integrated member of the Communication and Society Research Centre (Minho University), where he is part of the group of "Cultural Studies". Research areas and activities have focused on 1) analysis of the impact of social development on contemporary values, particularly on religious values; 2) analysis of social time and temporalities; 3) adequacy of different methodologies in the analysis of sociocultural trends. Along with university teaching, he has integrated several national and international research projects and participated in different evaluation studies, particularly in the "Study on the effects of training on the career paths of young people" (Fundação Bracara Augusta); "Portuguese Emigrant Entrepreneurship" (with FCT support); "Conflict Management and Sociability of Young University Students" (UMinho); "Evaluation of the Impacts Associated with the Event 'Braga 2012: European Capital of Youth`" (CEJ) and "Projecto Coopera" (Operational Program for Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation). His latest book, co-authored, is entitled "The transformations of education. From tradition to modernity to the current uncertainty". It was published in 2019 in Madrid by Dykinson. And the penultimate one, entitled “The Professional Insertion of the Youth of Braga”, published in 2017, by Catholic University of Portugal and resulted from a study that coordinated for the European Youth Capital.
