Jerry Li is a partner and managing director of ADS Engineering. The company focuses on energy risk modelling, energy technology project development, engineering, management and investment. Currently, Jerry is advising MNCs, utilities, and policy makers regarding energy strategies in Asia, and managing a number of cross-border technology investment projects in the region. Prior to ADS, he was Hitachi’s Asia Pacific Vice President responsible for electric power business. During his tenure, he has successfully cultivated the massive adoption of Amorphous Metal Transformer (AMT) Technology in China, India and a number of Asian countries via both financial and engineering initiatives, resulting significant contributions to grid energy efficiency improvement and environmental protection. In recent years, Asia installs ~75M KVA AMT per year, which will lead to an annual ~900GWh energy saving and an annual 750K tons of CO2 emission reduction, or 18TWh and 15M tons throughout the twenty-year transformer life.
Before joining Hitachi, Jerry assumed R&D, engineering, project management, commercial, operation, risk management, M&A, and general management positions in MNCs including Siemens, National Semiconductor, RHI, Schneider and Honeywell.
On the research side, Jerry has investigated behaviors of adopting new energy technologies in his 1st doctoral research. The results have provided insights to policy makers. His 2nd doctoral research focuses on optimizing microgrid structure and improving renewable energy utilization.
In addition to his professional practices, Jerry serves / served as coordinator for DESERTEC Foundation, President of Asia Energy Platform, Vice Chairman of Association for Chinese Electricity Industry Advancement, and assists energy-related organizations to design and conduct researches. He is also an advisor of Virya Foundation, who supports talented students from rural areas to complete their University studies.
