Marcos Alan S. V. Ferreira joined the Department of International Relations at Federal University of Paraiba - UFPB (João Pessoa, Brazil) in 2012. He teaches the courses "Ethics and International Relations", "Peace Studies and Human Security" and "Foreign Policy Analysis". His research interests are Peace Studies, Security Studies, and Peace and International Affairs Education, with special focus on South America and the Middle East. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp, Brazil - 2010) and a M.A. in International Relations - Programa Santiago Dantas (UNESP/UNICAMP/PUC-SP, Brazil) (2006). He was a Visiting Researcher at University of Manchester (UK, 2018), at Uppsala University (Sweden, 2014), at Universität Vecha (Germany, 2017) and was also a Research Intern Fellow at the National Defense University - NDU (USA, 2008). His articles and reviews have been published in various journals, including the International Studies Perspectives, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, Journal of Political Science Education, Latin American Politics and Society, and Journal of Human Security. He is also author of "Combating Terrorism in South America: a compartive analysis of U.S. and Brazilian policies in Tri-Border Area" (in Portuguese), "Religion and International Relations: from theoretical debates to the roles of Christianism and Islam" (in Portuguese), co-authored with Anna Carletti (UNIPAMPA, Brazil), and contributed with entries for "The SAGE Encyclopedia of War: Social Science Perspectives".
