This is Md. Aminul Islam who is currently working as Lecturer, Department of MIS, School of Business, at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). He has completed his post graduation (MBA) and Graduation degree major in Management Information Systems, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka. Over the last 5 years, he has been involved in different extra curricular activities at national and international level connecting with the various clubs. Apart from this, Md. Islam is very active in Research and Publication where his research focus relies on Digital Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Social Media Marketing, Big Data for Business Analytics. Moreover, in 2013, he has been qualified as Certified Supply Chain Analyst (CSCA) from International Supply Chain Education Alliance (ISCEA).
This paper focuses on finding the contribution of information technology: tools and techniques used in higher education during COVID-19 to stand-in teaching and learning platform. As there is a risk of hampering the students’ academic progress and impact on their career if this outbreak lasts longer than expected, no alternative that educational institutions primarily universities have to continue their events remotely. We have tried to figure out what elements both learners and teachers consider to use tech-tools and techniques even if they are passing the contagion. To do research, we have surveyed online with a structured questionnaire that was distributed and collected using google form. The responders include students and faculties/teachers/instructors. After analyzing collected data, we have found that Technology enables learners to be engaged more actively so that they can add value by learning unique sort of mechanisms through the online class which gave them ways to retain knowledge since individuals learning dashboard helps them to check their capability more than that of offline. By involving in different online-class activities, students can improve their collaboration skills from global perspectives. They found that IT is helpful in terms of group presentations as they need to communicate with their respective group members via communication media. Faculties are aware of the techniques they are going to use in an online classroom. Faculties believe that online platforms enhanced students’ complex problem thinking and solving capability as well as help to cram about online etiquette, including writing emails. Apart from this, online teaching assists faculties, sometimes force, to be updated on their subject matters. However, more factors could have been identified if the sample size was bigger than taken for this study.
