My primary research interest is to study, characterize and to detect/remove artifacts from different neural recordings (i.e. both invasive and non-invasive ones). I am also interested in other biomedical signal processing, such as neural spike detection and sorting, noise removal from ECG or PCG signals.
Currently I am working on artifact detection and removal from scalp EEG for different BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) applications including ERP (Event Related Potential) studies.

Embedded programmable blood pressure monitoring system
January 2008
-
October 2008
A new, comparatively efficient algorithm has been developed for monitoring human blood pressure in a micro-controller based compact embedded device. The motivation was to develop an user friendly device to minimize the workload at medical facility centers. The algorithm was coded in platform C/C+ which was further debugged for AtMega 8 series micro-controller. A precision buffer amplifier and variable AC/DC converter has been designed together with the micro-controller system & implemented the circuits in PCBs.
A Minimally Invasive Implant for Diagnosis and Treatment in Refractory Epilepsy
August 2014
We build an implantable device that can detect and predict epilepsy on-the-fly.
There is a growing demand for chronic, wireless neurosensor interface with on-the-fly processing capabilities. Such neurosensor interface is designed with low-power, low-noise operation, thus meeting the urgent clinical needs of providing long-term, neurological health monitoring for patients suffering from conditions such as epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, and sleep apnea. In collaboration with Boston research groups, we have a wireless recorder designed and validated through bench-top experiments, animal experiments, and scalp EEG recordings.
What we have achieved is an implantable chip capable of recording both regular EEG and high-frequency oscillations, with the following specifications:
Adjustable bandwidth between 0.1-100Hz and 0.1-800Hz Low input referred noise at 0.46µV for 0.1-100Hz and 0.98µV for 0.1-800Hz High precision data acquisition up to 15 bits Low power consumption under 35µA per channel Wireless power link to deliver 1-10mW power LSK data link with 1Mb/s data rate Customized wireless transceiver board that can relay EEG data over 10 meters.
