Integrating specialist care, Public Health and leadership in global health – approaching health systems demands with clinical leadership for renewed trust in health care.
I have more than 32 years of professional experience, including clinical work, health technology innovation processes, managing patient safety, hospital organization and development in Norway, global public health services and research. Five years at executive management level as the Managing Medical Director of Haydom Lutheran Hospital, Tanzania, a 420 bed rural not for profit referral hospital.
I have particular interest in value based platforms linking patient care with hospital and public health management objectives.
Presently working as hospital director at Flekkefjord hospital and management team of the hospital trust of Southern Norway. Previous experience includes chief medical officer of the ED and planning hospital services at Stavanger University Hospital. Main objective to improve clinical leadership among clinicians and middle managers.
Also previous Research Coordinator of an EU funded multi-country, multisite project evaluating priority setting mechanisms at district health level in Zambia (REACT), Tanzania and Kenya, consultant in Somaliland and Nairobi and Medical Doctor in hospitals in Norway. MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine / London School of Economics, PhD in international health, focusing on "quality for trust" and medical specialty in Public Health.
Co-founded a healths systems innovation company (SmartCrowding) with support from Valide and Innovation Norway within SmartCluster Stavanger. Developed my leadership, policy development, advocacy and monitoring and evaluation skills at international, governmental and local levels. High level of understanding of the importance of company culture, team development and implementation of policies to meet objectives.
