About
I am Privatdozent and Group leader in Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Bern, Switzerland. My research area is diagnosis and research on metabolic disorders. My laboratory studies steroid hormone metabolism and disorders of overproduction (prostate cancer and polycystic ovary syndrome) or under production (e.g. congenital adrenal hyperplasia) of steroid hormones. Before joining University of Bern, I studied biochemistry as a graduate student then did a postdoctoral fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Main research interests: 1. Cytochrome P450 enzyme CYP17A1 to identify drug candidates. 2. P450 reductase (POR). Mutations in POR cause metabolic disorders and influence metabolism of drugs and steroids. 3. Metabolic disorders
