Nishith currently works as Associate Professor at the Department of Life Sciences, Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan (Gujarat) India. Nishith does research in Wildlife and Conservation Biology with special focus on large mammals and habitats. His research interest also includes, Wildlife and Conservation Biology, wetland ecology and biodiversity monitoring. His current research work includes conservation of sloth bears in central and western India. He is also involved in a research project on monitoring of bear population in north east India. He is the Co Chair of IUCN-SSC Sloth bear Expert Team and the member of IUCN-SSC Human bear conflict mitigation expert team.
