Shama Prasada Kabekkodu obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology, and Masters in Biosciences from Mangalore University, Karnataka, India. After finishing his M.Sc., he joined the Manipal School of Life Sciences for Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. K. Satyamoorthy and Prof. Gopinath P.M. His doctoral work focused on understand the role DNA methylation regulated genes in cervical cancer. He worked as a lecturer (2009-2011) and assistant professor (2011-2016) at Manipal School of Life Science. Currently, he is working as an associate professor at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Manipal School of Life Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka, India. He has over ten years of teaching and research experience in the area of cell and molecular biology. His research expertise and interest are in the area of cancer epigenetics, which involves identifying the epigenetic changes responsible for carcinogenesis and translating clinically relevant biomarkers for diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic use and delineate fundamental cell and molecular events responsible for carcinogenesis.
